Indirect Speech

Remember, that with indirect speech:

1. There is no Auxiliary verb Do/Does/Did. Where does he live?

I'd like to know where he lives.

2. Auxiliary verb 'To Be' = If or Whether He's French.

(Yes/No questions & statements) I can't remember if he's French or not.

3. The word order changes. What's your name?

He wants to know what your name is.

4. The pronoun sometimes changes. Am I right?

He is asking whether he is right.

 

Indirect speech expressions

Have you (got) any idea...?

Could/Can you tell me...?

Would / Do you mind telling me...?

May I ask you...?

Do you (happen to) know...?

Does anyone know...?

Who knows...?

Nobody knows....

I want to know....

I'd like to know.....

I'd love to know....

I don't know....

I've no idea....

I haven't a clue....

I'm not sure....

I wonder....

I have forgotten....

I can't remember....

I can't imagine....

I couldn't/can't understand....

I couldn't/can't hear....

I'd like to say/tell you....

Let me see....

Sb. decided....
