Vriesea taritubensis Pereira & Penna

Var. brevisepala Pereira & Penna n. var.

 

 

Typus : Brazil, Rio de Janeiro State, Petrópolis, Cascatinha, collected by Ivo de Azevedo Penna, nº 28, on the 10th December 1983. Holotypus at Herbarium Bradeanum, HB .

 

Description : differs from the typical variety for its sepals, not more than 15 mm long, short scape and floral bracts very imbricate.

 

Published : in Bradea, Herbarium Bradeanum´s bulletin, volume IV, nº 19 , 26th March 1985 , Pg. 137 .

 

Comments : we are adding drawings and color photos of many specimens from the original collection, upon cultivation. As drawings or photos were not published in the original description, this plant is almost unknown, but is relatively common and found in many bromeliad exhibitions, with incorrect names, such as V. gradata (Baker) Mez , and V. incurvata Gaudichaud .
