Welcome!
Viv would like to welcome Bianca and Stephanie, to their new English courses.
Welcome back
A warm welcome back to Renata, who has restarted classes after the birth of her son.
Congratulations!
This edition of the Newsletter brings some excellent news. Nara passed the Cambridge Advanced English exam with grade B (she was only one point away from grade A). This very good result in a difficult exam is the reward for all the hard work over the years, well done Nara!
Two other of Viv's students have also completed levels of English and deserve congratulations. Luciana Lima passed the pre-intermediate level, and Lucimar has successfully completed the upper-intermediate level of English. Well done to both of you as well! :-)
Good luck!
Viv would like to wish Tati Vandendries the best of luck for the future.
Happy birthday!
A late happy birthday to Bruna, Luciana and Fernanda, who celebrated their birthdays on the 1st, 4th and 8th of September respectively.
A future 'happy birthday' to Mariana (8th Oct.), Marcele (10th Oct.) and Juliana (16th Dec.).
Viv would like to thank everyone who came to his birthday party in June. If you were there, your presence helped make it a very special night for him.
Holidays
Viv will not be working on the twelfth of October (Our Lady of Aparecida) or on the second of November (Remembrance Day), both of which are Wednesdays. He will be taking a long weekend from the 12th to the 15th of November, which will include Proclamation of the Republic Day.
This year, the Christmas and New Year's holiday will be from the 23rd of December until the 6th of January, a well-deserved two-week break from classes.
Course news
Everyone will be doing a vocabulary test in the next few weeks and there will be one more back of notebook test before the end of the year. If you would like a copy of the latest version of your Vocab or BON database (the programs we use in class to revise and test the words and expressions you can't remember), just bring your database cd-rom to class, and Viv will make a copy for you. My apologies to those students who have Apple computers as, unfortunately, these programs only run on computers with the Microsoft operating system. However, Viv can still send you your words and expressions in a Word or Excel file.
Student of the month
The student of the month of this edition is Nara Borges, mentioned in the 'congratulations' section of this newsletter.
Features
The two essays overleaf, both by Bia Revilla, show just how much someone's writing can improve with hard work and good class attendance.
