Welcome!
Viv would
like to welcome Juliana Andrade and Renata Mello, who have just started English
courses.
Welcome
back!
I'm also
happy to welcome back Joana Canalonga, who is continuing to the next level
after successfully completing a beginner course.
Good
luck!
Viv wishes
Lucia D'anton the best of luck for the future. She suspended classes on the
arrival of her baby.
Happy
birthday!
Happy
birthday to both Joanas (Canalonga - 18th October and Dale - 17th November). Viv
would also like to wish a very happy birthday to Marliana (21st November),
Renata Mello (4th December) and Juliana Andrade (16th December).
Two of
Viv's students celebrate their birthdays in January 2010 - Consuelo on the 2nd
and Roberta on the 8th.
Holidays
Viv arrived
back from his holiday in England on the 25th of August. He enjoyed himself a
lot and will tell you all about it next class. The first day he will be
teaching will be on Thursday 27th of August. Please send him a message if you
need to delay restarting your English classes.
There will
be several long weekends (feriadão) in the next few months. There will be no
classes on fifth and seventh of September (Proclamation of the Republic Day),
the 10th and 12th of October (Our Lady of Aparcida Day) and the 31st of
September and 1st of November (Day of the dead). Unfortunately, this means that
Viv's Saturday students will miss classes in the last four months of the year,
so try to come for the remaining classes if you can.
Viv's
Christmas holiday this year will be from the 21st December to the 4th of
January.
Course
news
Viv has bought
some new books for his student library and the first two students who talk
about, and then write a composition on a book they borrowed while he was on
holiday will win a book mark.
The top
five highest scores in the vocabulary tests in September and back of notebook
tests in October will win a beautful English pen, but Viv will calculate the
top scores based on how long you've been using your English notebook.
While he
was in England, Viv cut out articles on Brazil from British newspapers, and
brought 3 papers back with him, so all his students will be doing a newspaper
reading activity in the next few months.
Student
of the month
The student
of the month for this edition of the Newsletter is Viviane Fukugawa. She's a
psychologist who started classes at the intermediate level in January 2009. She
has worked very hard on improving her English and her progress has been
impressive.
