Welcome!
Viv would offers a warm welcome to Ella and Cristiane, who have recently started English courses.
Welcome
back!
It's nice to see Jovana again after a year without classes.
Congratulations!
Maria Duarte completed the pre-intermediate level at the beginning of August. Well done!
Good luck!
I wish Ana Paula and Marcela the best of luck for the future after the suspension of their English classes. I also hope that everything goes well for Michelle, who has gone to do an English course in Canada, and for Magda who has suspended classes to have a baby.
Happy
birthday!
Happy birthday to Maria and Ana Paula who celebrate their birthdays on the 20th of August. I'll also take the opportunity to send birthday greeting to Liana (30th Sept.) and Clarissa and Cynthia, whose birthdays are on the 15th and 28th of October
Holidays
Independence Day is on Thursday this year, so Viv will not be working on the following Friday and Saturday. The same will happen in October because 'Our Lady of Aparecida' is also on a Thursday (the 12th).
There are three holidays in November (the 2nd, 15th and 20th). Viv will not be working on these days, but will not be having any more long weekends until Christmas! :-)
Course
news
After the back of notebook tests have finished this month, there will be vocabulary tests in September and the "Viv's angry pages" activity in October.
In December there will be another film activity. Viv has to watch the same film about 20 times, so he will choose the film himself, but this year he will be asking all his students to vote on the type of film which will be shown (drama, comedy, romance etc.). The category which gets the most votes will be the one from which Viv will choose the Christmas film. If you weren't having classes with Viv in December last year, you'll find Viv's favourite summary of last year's film by an intermediate student on page 2 of this edition.
What's new?
Viv has finally finished his 'Vocabulary
Database' and most of Viv's students have been introduced to the program. If
you feel confident using it, send Viv a message and he'll send you a copy of
your version. You can add words to it yourself, but it's important that, after
adding new words at home, you print out your database and ask Viv to check your
context sentences for mistakes.
Student of the month
My student of the month of this edition is Roberta Megale. She started classes with Viv in November 2004 at the intermediate level. Although it has been difficult for her attend classes regularly because she often has to go awaay on business trips, she has still made good progress in improving her English.
